I ordered the Spaghetti con Capesante, expecting something like a vongole, but it turned out to be completely different β fresh, light, and so unique in flavor. Unlike the rich clam broth of vongole, this pasta had a beautifully delicate taste that really surprised me. I used to think the famous lasagna place in Melbourne (the one starting with β1800β) was my favorite restaurant, but after todayβ¦ this place has officially taken the crown! ππ I live only 5 minutes away, and honestly, I could eat here every day. I paired the pasta with a glass of Pinot Noir (after debating between white and red), and it was a perfect match β smooth, balanced, and just right for the dish. For someone like me who doesnβt enjoy heavy or greasy food, this was absolutely perfect. The texture of the pasta was also cooked to perfection. One little tip β if you order the same dish, make sure to eat the scallops first! Once the dish cools down, the scallops can develop a slightly fishy taste. (I learned that the hard way because I was saving them for last! π)
Such a lovely little Italian spot! The staff are friendly, the foodβs super tasty and the desserts are unforgettable π Definitely a must-try!
I've been here twice now, fantastic food both times. Service was great too. We went on a Friday night last time, the restaurant was quiet which is concerning. This restaurant has been in West Melb/City Fringe for quite some time now, I hope people will continue to support them. I had the kingfish pasta dish and my partner ordered the diavola pizza. Then we shared a lemon tiramisu.
Had dinner on a weekday and tried the lasagna croquette and the Genovese ziti pasta. The meal included complimentary bread with olive oil and butter, as well as some fried pizza dough which was soft and airy with a crispy exterior. The lasagna croquette came out reasonably fast. It was nicely crumbed with soft pasta sheets and some beef and pork mince inside. The tomato sauce was sweet and mildly tart. The Genovese ziti was served after; pasta was soft but has some bite to it, and the sauce has a light savoury taste with tender stewed beef. Both dishes were pretty tasty; lasagna croquette would be even better with a bit more mince meat. Staffs were friendly and the service was good.
Located down a little alleyway, the first thought was how authentic looking it is. The greeting on arrival was very good and the service from start to finish was the same. The food, whilst well made and with good flavours, didn't blow us away. It was like good home cooking which in itself is great but not at the cost. We also noted the strange choice of music. For an Italian restaurant it was very heavy which didn't add to what should have been an amazing atmosphere. The wine choice was above average with good choices of Italian (why drink anything else in an Italian restaurant), Australian and others. It was still a lovely place to eat and the level of service made the night for us.
