My bestie and I spent the evening at Massimo we had the limoncello oysters and they were definitely the highlight of the night second to the lasagne. As big burrata lovers we thought we would switch it up for the whipped ricotta which was INSANE highly recommend if you are getting a starter / entree. Giovanni was our waiter and could not fault him one bit he recommended a red and white wine to pair with our mains and they were perfect so smooth and easy to drink. 10/10 will definitely be back
If youβre after a gorgeous date night spot with serious food to match, Massimo is an easy yes! Think waterfront views, warm Italian vibes and plates that are made to be shared! Our picks: π house focaccia π§ burrata π« fried olives π massimo lasagne π₯© eye fillet w/ mushroom sauce π₯¦ sautΓ©ed broccolini π° tiramisu Everything was beautifully done β the focaccia was fluffy & perfect for scooping up burrata! The signature lasagne was rich and comforting, and the eye fillet was cooked just right. And donβt skip dessert, that tiramisu is light, creamy and the perfect way to finish.
Very disappointed. We have been here many times before and always enjoyed it, which makes this experience even more upsetting. Unfortunately, this visit was genuinely awful. The meatballs were raw in the centre, and the lasagna was burnt and dry on top while undercooked inside. This is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant of this standard. The quality of the food was honestly disgusting and not safe to eat. We spent close to $200, which makes this even harder to accept. This dinner was meant to be my father-in-lawβs last meal before travelling back to the UK, and I clearly noted on the booking that it was a celebration and explained the reason. Despite this, no staff made any effort to acknowledge the occasion, make the meal feel special, or even check in when plates were clearly left unfinished. What should have been a meaningful and memorable night ended in disappointment and embarrassment. Given the cost, the lack of care, and the poor food quality, this experience was devastating. This was our first bad experience here, but it was bad enough that we are now unsure if we will return.
βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ Massimo Italian at South Bank delivered an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The service was exceptional - attentive, professional and genuinely welcoming. Drinks were refreshed promptly with no waiting, and the team ensured everything flowed seamlessly throughout the evening. Giovanni, one of the owners, personally introduced himself, shared the story behind the restaurant and generously recommended other venues within their group, which added a very personal and memorable touch. The food was superb. We started with the focaccia and ricotta dip (a house favourite and rightly so) along with the croquettes - rich, cheesy and absolutely worth ordering to share. For mains, the lasagna was spectacular, tasting truly homemade and full of flavour, while the meatballs with spaghetti were served piping hot, generously portioned and deeply satisfying. Every dish arrived hot and remained so throughout the meal - a clear sign of attention to detail in the kitchen. Portion sizes were exceptionally generous, quality was consistent across all courses, and the overall value was excellent. We arrived via rideshare so parking wasnβt an issue, and the location couldnβt be better - the ferry ramp is only around 100 metres away, making a post-dinner trip to the casino effortless. An outstanding venue with fantastic food, attentive service and genuine hospitality. Massimo is a standout at South Bank and highly recommended.
The food, drinks and vibes were amazing! We went as a group of 6 on a Saturday night in December expecting it to be hectic and busy! The restaurant was perfectly tidy, service was super fast and everything including food and drink was high quality!! We ordered bits to share off the a la carte menu! The group favourite was the cacio a pepe served in the cheese wheel! Our waiter was fantastic (didnβt ask his name but got a picture of him serving the pasta). He read the vibes of the group perfectly! We couldnβt have asked for a better experience! Thank you so much for a great evening!
